Today marks the anniversary of our CEO Hazel Thompson’s hole-in-one at her home club – Royal Portrush, after playing golf for more than 40 years! The odds are estimated at around 12,500 to 1 for the average golfer.

I can still vividly recall the rush of excitement on Stoke Medal Day, battling high winds and rain. Today, as we enjoy sunshine and gentle breezes on this Easter Weekend, the contrast in weather couldn’t be more striking.

It’s a reminder of the unpredictable nature of Irish weather, a topic of great interest before and during our golf trips. You just don’t know in Ireland what the weather will throw at you, though traditionally, the best weather falls between May and September. Thankfully, it doesn’t rain in the pubs!

The works on and beside the course were apparent today. The progress on the course works and driving range at Royal Portrush for the upcoming Open Championship is truly impressive. Additionally, the construction of the first 5-star hotel, Dunluce Lodge, on the North Coast is well underway. Visible through the trees along the 4th fairway, it promises to be an elegant, luxurious and stylish addition to the accommodation offerings in the region.
